1 EDUCATIONAL SESSION: CLOUD VS ON-PREMISE
Presented by: Accent Software, Inc

2 Who am I? Ben Baxter Faith-based Life (Christian) Family
Butler University (Business/Finance)

3 Cloud vs. On-Premise Glossary:
SAAS – You pay a fee to use a program (Office 365) IAAS – You pay a fee to use hardware (Azure, AWS, Rackspace, etc.) On-Premise – Equipment in your Company’s building Ice Breaker #1: Who uses Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Cloud (not BC On- Premise)? Ice Breaker #2: Who runs NAV/BC in a Private Cloud Environment? Ice Breaker #3: Who uses Cloud Software?

4 Deployment (not Data Setup)
Cloud (SAAS) Sign-In Cloud (IAAS) “Hybrid” Install Server Software Install Service Tier Install Clients On-Premise Install Server Software Install Service Tier Install Clients

5 Deployment (Company/Data Setup)
The Same!

6 Pop Quiz: True or False Business Central is only deployed in the Cloud. FALSE – Business Central is available for both Cloud and On-Premise Deployment. I have to pay $100/User/Month if I Upgrade to Business Central. FALSE – If you are current on your Enhancement Plan, you can continue with your Annual Renewals and your On-Premise Deployment. I can migrate from On-Premise to Subscription Licensing. TRUE – Microsoft has a license transition path IF you decide it is the right decision for the company (and its reasonably priced).

7 Considerations (Hardware)
Cloud (SAAS) No control of resources. No access to Server. No maintenance required. On-Premise/Hybrid (IAAS) You control the hardware resources. Access to Server. Requires maintenance of environment.

8 Considerations (Software)
Cloud (SAAS) Add-Ons through AppSource. Customizations via Extensions. On-Premise/Hybrid (IAAS) Add-Ons via Objects or Extensions. Customization via Objects or Extensions.

9 Final Thoughts? Do what is right for your business. There is no right answer for all companies. Comparing Apples-to-Apples is tough! You aren’t just comparing the cost/value of the Server, but also the internal/external labor required to maintain the Server. You have options, and time to weigh those options.
