Children should come in to the classroom unaccompanied.
Cloakrooms are in the classroom so please only send your child with what they need and preferably no big bags unless needed.
Children should change their own reading book whenever they need to- they will be reminded for the first term.

6. What does Outdoor Learning look like in Lower Key Stage 2?
This will take place on a rotation with PE. We will do Outdoor Learning once a week for a short term then PE for a short term. Year 3 will do Outdoor Learning in September.
We will build on the learning from the infants
Children will need all weather outdoor clothing and boots- we have limited spares especially of boots

7. What are the expectations in Lower Key Stage 2?
By the end of Year 4 pupils are expected to know all their tables up to 12 x 12
Handwriting is to be joined, neat and correctly punctuated.
Dates and Learning Questions (LQ’s) are to be written by the children and underlined.
Spellings will be sent home to practise at the start of each term.
Spellings will be practised in class and tested on a Friday. There will also be a weekly times table test.

8. How often should my child be reading in Lower Key Stage 2?
In Year 3 it is expected that children read a minimum of 5 times a week
Reading needs to be recorded in their reading journal- at the start of the year you may listen to your child and make comments but this may change as they develop their ability. If able, the children can write in themselves. Please sign once a week.

9. How can I help my child to be healthy at school?
Break time snacks are not provided in Key Stage 2
If you would like your child to bring a snack, please put it in to a labelled container. Your child will then put this in the classroom snack box.
Snacks must be fruit or vegetables or one labelled “1 of your 5 a day.”
School lunches are payable in Key Stage 2

10. What does home learning look like in Lower Key Stage 2?
Home learning is given out every term
It consists of a choice of different tasks as well as a maths activity on the MyMaths website
All children are expected to complete home learning
There is a homework club on Friday lunchtimes
Home learning is shared in the class and the children receive peer and teacher feedback
House points are awarded for effort and the number given is decided by the teacher

Children with SAP’s will have their targets continue into KS2.
Transition may include extra visits to their new teacher and area and a transition book
TA led interventions every afternoon for phonics, writing and maths
