Since Donald Trump became President, there has been a so called “war” on illegal immigration with his government introducing policies which have:

allowed for children, including new-borns, to be physically separated from their families at the border
attempted to stop migrants entering the USA from predominantly Muslim countries.
The major controversy surrounding Trump’s handling of immigration has made the headlines both within the USA and internationally and shows no signs of stopping.

4. Gun Crime/ Mass Shootings
Incidents involving mass shootings and serious gun crime are a well known problem in the USA.
The 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution states that every American has the “right to bear arms”. In modern times this is interpreted as the right to own a gun.
The way the US political system is set up, each individual state has its own unique gun laws. Some states heavily restrict access to guns whereas other states allow almost anyone to purchase a gun – without any kind of background check.
The Gun Violence Archive recorded a total of 56,953 gun violence incidents in 2018, leading to 14,641 deaths and 28,161 injuries. Of these 304 were reported to be mass shootings – almost one everyday of the year.
