it will change yours too… Our helpline changes lives good listener? parent or carer? Are you someone who can listen, support others and provide a non-judgemental listening ear? interested in developing your skills or gaining experience in family support? Can you spare 4 hours a week? Exciting opportunity for Volunteer Call Takers based in our Hatfield in Herts, Hadleigh in Essex centre or Home Based. Family Lives next volunteer call taker training course starts in Hatfield in SEPTEMBER 2019 the dates are: Saturday 14th, 21st, 28th September and October 5th For more information about Volunteering with us or to request a Volunteer Application Pack, please Family Lives offers a confidential and free* helpline service (previously known as Parentline). Please call us on for information, advice, guidance and support on any aspect of parenting and family life, including bullying. Our helpline service is open 9am – 9pm, Monday to Friday and 10am – 3pm Saturday and Sunday.

What do our volunteers say about us? “It is very rewarding to be a listening ear and give emotional support” “It is so good to work with such a varied group of people that I can get support from” “It was like a breath of fresh air” “Coming back into the workforce after my career break increased my confidence and improved my CV.” Training and support Volunteers at Family Lives receive full training in their chosen role, learning to support families, undertake outreach work, increase their skill sin administration or gain experience to help them move into employment. Training can depend on the volunteer role, but each volunteer at Family Lives receives: Full training Supervision and setting personal development goals Opportunities to increase skills and personal development To ensure high standards of service we: Interview all volunteers Undertake DBS checks Have an out of hours Risk of Harm procedure Have a volunteer policy and agreement We have best practice policies to make sure that all volunteers have a positive and rewarding volunteering experience.
