What Are Koalas? Koalas are tree climbing mammals that live in the eulcalyptus trees of Australia. Apart from the greater glider and ringtail possum, they are the only animals that can live there. They are not actually bears, instead being marsupials.

Why Are They Endangered?
Bushfires are big killers, killing a sad total of 200 every year. Another big killer is diseases like pnumonia and conjunctvitis. But the biggest killer is the fact that the eucalyptus trees where they live have been reduced to 20% of previous numbers because of city growth in recent years.

What Does This Cause? This causes loss of habitat, increased competition for food and space, more disturbance by humans, injury or death by traffic and effects of garden pesticides getting into waterways.

How Can We Stop This? By donating to the to the many, many charities that have been made to stop this. Or, if you live in Australia and are near an eucalyptus forest, use natrual garden pesticides.
