Chatting with Residents
Female <5 years residence: Female >20 years residence: Quieter than Chicago suburbs. Cleaner air, cleaner town Safer for children Disappointed in the lack of services. (Having to put the children in the car and drive 6 miles for things such as eggs, diapers Would advise others to move here because of the small-town safety of the neighborhood, but hopes the services base grows (grocery, home goods, park district children’s programs) Quiet neighborhood, slow pace, and low traffic streets. Is used to running into Momence for incidentals. Only a problem during heavy snow. The school funding is low, exaggerated by the Illinois budget deficit. The school board and teaching staff is “clique-ie” (generational families) as are the town’s construction companies and other services. Doesn’t like the gossip and small town mentality. neighborhood has become less intimate as neighbors.
