SV-10b Template Systems State Transition Description – step-by-step instructions and template Click the mouse button to see the next slide. Use the browser Back button to return to the Tutorial.
2
Three Steps in developing your SV-10b Step 1 - Identify the Product's Timescale
Decide on the timescale that this product is expected to represent (as-is, to-be, transitional) Multiple timescales are often needed for each product; a separate SV-10b should be produced for each timescale that is needed
3
Step 2 – Reference your Systems Functionality Description (SV-4)
Identify applicable results of functions performed at system nodes Review the functions performed at system nodes as documented in your SV-4 and determine the results associated with these functions that are relevant to the scope of the SV-10b Identify State Transitions Determine the state transitions that are relevant to the scope of the SV-10b
4
Step 3 – Illustrate Systems State Transitions
Using the template provided: Graphically depict results of functions performed at system nodes as rounded boxes Graphically depict system transitions from one state to another as directional lines Annotate: Transition Lines Event Names Action Names Result Names

A template has been provided, following this slide
Activities can be nested, concurrent or synchronised, as required Don’t forget to update your Integrated Dictionary (CV-2) with any new terms or abbreviations introduced in the SV-10b Delete the instruction slides when SV-10b completed
