2. The Elimination Method
Put BOTH equations in STANDARD form (Ax + By = C)
Multiply One or Both equations to make the coefficients of either x or y opposite numbers (one positive and one negative).
Add the two equations together (to eliminate one variable).
Solve the resulting equation for the variable that is left.
Substitute that value into EITHER of the original equations
Solve that result for the second variable.
Write your answer as a coordinate pair, (x, y).
