“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and, if true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.” C.S. Lewis

I. The Day of the Lord will come to the children of darkness and the children of light
The children of darkness will be shocked from their perceptions to endure an inevitable destruction (verses 1-3) The day of the Lord will come like a thief and continue like labor pains. The children of light are not of the stock who will be shocked! (verses 4-5)
4
II. “So then” the children of light ought to live like the children of light…
…Because their testimony should reflect who they are (verses 6-7) …Because their testimony should reflect their hope for salvation (verses 8-10) This hope should be manifested in Christ-like character (8) This hope is assured through Christ’s work on our behalf (9-10)

“Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”
Matthew 24:42

III. Live Like We’ll be Delivered!
Encourage one another with the hope of our deliverance. Build one another up as we await our deliverance. “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” Ephesians 4:12-13
