Figure 1 Correlation between urinary growth hormone (GH) concentrations and (A) serum progesterone concentrations or (B) serum estradiol concentrations. Urine was collected for 24 hours during the midluteal phase, and urinary GH concentrations were measured. The GH concentrations in the urine were corrected by the urinary creatinine value, and serum progesterone (P4) and estradiol (E2) concentrations were measured on the same day as the urine was collected. Urinary GH was statistically significantly correlated with serum progesterone (y = 0.628x , R2 = 0.325, P<.05), and serum estradiol (y = x , R2 = 0.256, P<.05). (A) Cells incubated with various concentrations of IGF-1 (1, 10, 100 ng/mL) for 24 hours. (B) Cells incubated with IGF-1 (100 ng/mL) in the presence or absence of hCG (1 IU/mL) for 24 hours. Data are expressed as a percentage of the control value in each incubation. Each bar represents the mean ± SEM of three different incubations. Different letters indicate statistically significant differences between groups (P<.05). The simple linear regression test between IGF-1 concentrations and progesterone production showed a statistically significant correlation (y = 0.345x , R2 = 0.578, P<.01), suggesting the dose-dependent effect of IGF-1 on progesterone production.
