1522: Spanish Ships returning from global voyage
Was the first circumnavigation (all around the world voyage) of the world Took 3 years from Spain to East coast of S. America across Pacific to S. E. Asia back round Africa to Spain

Previously, human transportation had been focused on exploration Such as discovery trade routes between America and Southeast Asia Later developed into lucrative colonisation rush Thus began the phenomenon of a shrinking world very closely related to time-space convergence

1927: First Public Broadcast
John Logie Baird's company (Baird Television Development Company) broadcast the first transatlantic television signal, between London and New York, and the first shore-to-ship transmission in 1927. The first British television broadcast was made by Baird Television's electromechanical system over the BBC radio transmitter in September

Effects of television on global interactions:
Easy transmission of information Previously only radio messages (audio) could be broadcasted, now television messages (audiovisual) could be shown Provided an alternative to newspaper and printed communication Also started age of digital advertising, easily reach out to masses Experience culture, art, scenery without travel Thus, shrink in world experienced by not only tv owners, but also controllers of media
