2 At the end of this session, you should know how to:
This workshop is designed to assist you to define workplace behavior and how it shapes the culture. Participants will learn how to understand and recognise emotional triggers and learn to respond rather than react, improving communication. The program is appropriate for teams who are responsible for understanding the roles and the responsibilities that are associated with team building and leading self and of others. Workshop Outline Personal competence comprises your self-awareness and self-management skills, which focus more on you individually than on your interactions with other people. Personal competence is your ability to stay aware of your emotions and manage your behaviour and tendencies. Self-Awareness is your ability to accurately perceive your emotions and stay aware of them as they happen. Self-Management is your ability to use awareness of your emotions to stay flexible and positively direct your behaviour. Social competence is made up of your social awareness and relationship management skills; social competence is your ability to understand other people’s moods, behaviour, and motives to respond effectively and improve the quality of your relationships. Social Awareness is your ability to accurately pick up on emotions in other people and understand what is really going on. Relationship Management is your ability to use awareness of your emotions and the others’ emotions to manage interactions successfully. Communicating Effectively is understanding self and how others perceive behaviours Identifying the impact of emotions in the workplace. Team Building and leading in recognising and appreciating the emotional strengths and weaknesses of promoting the development of self and others. At the end of this session, you should know how to: provide opportunities for others to express their thoughts and feelings assist others to understand the effect of their behaviour and emotions on others in the workplace encourage the self-management of emotions in others encourage others to develop their own emotional intelligence to build productive relationships and maximise workplace outcomes encourage a positive emotional climate in the workplace use the strengths of workgroup members to achieve workplace outcomes.

3 Leadership and Communication
This workshop is designed to provide employees with an understanding of the role of effective leadership in the workplace. The program is appropriate for current and potential managers or members of management teams who are responsible for the establishment of the site management systems, plans and policies. Participants will be given an understanding of the responsibilities that are associated with leadership such as ensuring safety, teamwork, operational planning, effective communication and continuous improvement processes.
