What is UCAS? UCAS processes applications for full-time courses at higher education providers in the UK.​ UCAS is the electronic application system used by all universities UCAS are responsible for the management of over 2 million applications to full-time undergraduate courses.

7 Key Facts about Applications
Application is entirely online.​ Maximum of five choices.​ Some choice restrictions:​ for medicine, veterinary science/medicine and dentistry there is a maximum of four choices​ can only apply for either Oxford or Cambridge​ Simple application cost: ​ one choice – £20  ​ two to five choices – £25 ​ Equal consideration if deadlines are met. ​ Invisibility – universities cannot see where else someone has applied. Medicine Deadline is Early. Date October..... School Deadline is the end of November Some Universities wait until May to give out offers Many request interviews- these can include essays and portfolios of work

Finance You can apply to Student Finance England to pay your tuition fees upfront for you Repayable once you start to earn over £21,000 Example Your annual income is £28,800 and you are paid a regular monthly wage. This means that each month your income is £2,400 (£28,800 divided by 12). This is over the Plan 2 monthly threshold of £2,143. Your income is £257 over the threshold (£2,400 minus £2,143). You will pay back £23 (9% of £257) each month.

Full-time student 2019 to 2020 academic year Living at home Up to £7,529 Living away from home, outside London Up to £8,944 Living away from home, in London Up to £11,672 You spend a year of a UK course studying abroad Up to £10,242 Maintenance Loan for living costs You may have to give details of your household income. The loan is paid directly into your bank account at the start of each term. You have to pay the loan back.

Bursaries and scholarships University scholarships and bursaries are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students as extra financial help. Most awards are for full-time students. There can also be awards specifically for international students. You must meet the criteria, and the money does not need to be paid back. Search online to see if the university offers and what the criteria is

Key Dates:​ 7th June- Northumbria Uni- How to write a personal statement ​ 14th June- CV and Personal statements writing skills session ​ 21st June- Register UCAS​ 24th June- Complete Application form, Personal details, GCSE grades.​ July- Produce 1st draft of personal statement​ September 3rd- Bring completed draft of personal statement in to pass to referee​ October 7th- Early entry Medicine, Oxford, Cambridge sent off.​ October half term- Choices filled in and UCAS ready to send- Discuss target grades with Hoy or Head of 6th form​ November 11th-School deadline for UCAS- Pay and sent
