5. Why do we use the passive?
When the object of the sentence is more important than the subject.
What happened to the cheese?
The cheese was eaten by the mouse.
When the ‘doer’ of the action is not important.
The thief was sent to prison. (by the police)
When the ‘doer’ of the action is not known.
Her handbag was stolen.

6. Passive Forms + The cheese is eaten by the mouse.
Be verb + past participle
+ The cheese is eaten by the mouse.
- The cheese is not eaten by the mouse
? Is the cheese eaten by the mouse?
