LDC stays focused on its core business Leadership has to support the vision – it’s a long road, with twists and turns Clearly defined business model Understand and agree upon what success means Leverage every community contact possible leverage what is going on in other communities don’t reinvent the wheel – this will be confusing Education Board/shareholder Customers Ratepayers

Marketing is critical Technology is only one part of the business Require a clear value proposition What’s In It For Me (WIIFM) Ability to work with the private sector LDCs are viewed as public sector Many different perspectives of ‘public sector’ entering the private sector space
