Pathway Overview Careers focus on the oversight and rehabilitation of inmates Duties may include: managing an institution overseeing prisoner activity educating inmates counseling inmates

oversee and organize activities of correctional officers and jailers periodically count inmates

5 Warden Career description:
keep order, discipline and security by establishing and implementing rules, regulations, policies and laws handle emergencies including escapes

6 Warden Education/training: Median salary:
college in a related field, such as criminal justice or management may be required Median salary: $55,030

7 Jailer Career description:
oversee inmates in penal or rehabilitative institutions guard prisoners moving from jail, courtroom, prison or other places oversee conduct of prisoners inspect jailing facilities

search for weapons, drugs or valuables on prisoners, in cells and vehicles
