2. IPDE is divided into two time frames
12-15 second zone
4-6 second zone
IDENTIFY & PREDICT
DECIDE & EXECUTE

3. IDENTIFY
Identify hazards seconds ahead into your intended path of travel (POT).
Hazards could be cars traffic lights pedestrians on sidewalks parked vehicles…Anything that might enter your POT(path of travel)

4. PREDICT
Predict how the potential hazard may affect your path of travel in the next seconds.
A traffic light could change from green to red.
A child could run out from a driveway
A parked car could open a door

5. DECIDE Decide the safest way to avoid the hazard you could:
Change speed
Change direction
Communicate Signal, Lane position, Gesture, Horn, Eye Contact
Any combination of the three

6. EXECUTE
AS NIKE WOULD SAY once you have made the decision, “JUST DO IT”
