3. Mental illness affects one in four people here in Pierce County and WORLD-WIDE
Mental illnesses are more common than cancer, diabetes or heart disease.1 By 2020, behavioral health disorders will surpass all physical diseases as a major cause of disability worldwide.2
One in four people – 450 million people worldwide – suffer from mental disorders in both developed and developing countries.1 Of these:
154 million people suffer from depression, and 25 million from schizophrenia.

5. Keystone: TheWork Ordered Day
Daily activities are organized around a structured schedule known as the Work-Ordered Day.
The Work-Ordered Day in a Clubhouse parallels typical business hours. Usually 8 hours.
Members and staff work side-by-side to do the work.
There are no clinical therapies and treatment programs in a Clubhouse.
Members volunteer to do as much or as little work as they feel ready to do.
