CATV/xDSL WG panel

Since the Last Address Policy SIG …. Formed a consensus to have a working group for CATV/xDSL assignment guideline. Called for wg members in this January 7 members applied when the deadline came 7 more members applied and welcomed after the deadline

WG Goal To make a draft proposal about CATV/xDSL IPv4 address assignment guidelines – Consistent practices are needed throughout the region including RIR, NIR and all LIRs. In order to do this, guildelines are helpful as well as educational efforts APNIC is currently doing.

Issues raised by a member # of assigned addresses DB related – although it is not comprehensive

My personal view on discussion points Assignment policy – amount of addresses (Is 1:1 OK even for dynamic assignment?) – submission items – how to evaluate initial/subsequent requests, esp. estimation of customer numbers growth Database registration policy

Future Plan recognize current situations (-May) raise issues and discuss these among the wg (- May) Face-to-face meeting(May) try to make a draft proposal of the guideline before next APNIC meeting (June-July) call for comments before APNIC meeting (July- Aug.) propose the revised draft to the next policy SIG
