When there’s too much sun and not enough rain the soil around the plant dries out too much.

Some types of plants grow in the shallow water along the edges of ponds and streams. These plants have strong roots to anchor them firmly in the mud. Some types of plants grow partly or completely covered by water and others float on the water’s surface. They are adapted to the conditions they live in.
