Recipe Parts What’s Missing?

Part 1--Yield Tells the number and size of servings the recipe will make. Helps you know if you need to make more or less food.

Part 2—Ingredients and Amounts
Ingredients are listed in the exact amounts needed. Should be listed in the order that they are used. The specific form of the ingredient is listed (tablespoon, teaspoon, etc.)

Part 3—Step by Step Directions
Should have directions for how to prepare the recipe. Listed in the order they are to be completed. Some are in paragraph form—read through first and then prepare!

Part 4—Container Size and Type
Specific equipment (9x9 square pan) is usually listed. All equipment you will need will not be listed. For example, mixing and measuring equipment.

Part 5—Temperature and Time
Some will give you exact cooking temperatures and times (375 for 15 minutes) Others will tell you how to cook the food (Heat liquid until it simmers)

Optional—Nutrition Analysis
Not necessary to prepare a recipe, but useful when planning a healthy diet. Some include number of calories or grams of fat per serving.
