Objective: To close-read scenes from Edward Scissorhands
English 9 Day 11 Objective: To close-read scenes from Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands As we watch our first sequence, just watch and enjoy it. You do not have to take notes, but if you feel that it would help you, you may.

Now that you’ve seen the scenes, we will discuss the scene in general.
Answer each of the following questions: How would you describe Edward’s personality and attitude toward others? What is different about the neighborhood’s treatment of Edward? What is the effect of the scene with Kim dancing in the ice crystals? How have her feelings about Edward changed? How has Edward tried to fit in? Why has he failed? What does the “ethics lesson” reveal about Edward?
4
As we watch a key scene, you will once again be an “expert” in one category.
Take notes over the category to the right of the one you did yesterday. Share your notes from the viewing with others. Fill in others’ notes so you have a complete sheet.
