Foreshadowing Foreshadowing refers to the hints the writer gives the reader about what will happen next. A writer presents such hints through several elements or parts of a story or novel. Foreshadowing can be found in - what a character says or does - what the narrator says - the setting - setting includes time, place, weather, seasons, lifestyle - the events or situations

Assignment By the end of “New Directions,” Annie Johnson has become quite successful. What hints (foreshadowing) of Annie’s future success does the writer give the readers? Find at least three different examples of these hints (foreshadowing).
