American Community Survey Survey with most Indians surveyed annually AI/AN Populations are small enough that currently only survey results at the state level are reliable Currently only have data from one year (2008) Next Year will have 3 years of data ( )

3 Health Care Coverage Information from American Community Survey

4 Uninsured Eligible for Health Insurance Exchange (HIE)
Without cost-sharing: Household Incomes 139% to 300% of Poverty more reliable numbers with more years of data because of the low population of Indians

5 471,000 American Indians are uninsured
With incomes 139% to 300% of Poverty In all states combined 177,000 with IHS Coverage 294,000 without

6 Age Distribution of these AI/AN with & without IHS

7 Gender Distribution of these AI/AN with & without IHS

8 Exchanges will develop state by state
State numbers for American Indians vary

9 Numbers of the Uninsured vary greatly by state

10 Distributions vary by state: Age Groups with IHS ‘coverage’

11 Begin analysis for 12 IHS Areas
