Sources of Information
To complete the topic of sources and characteristics of information, we need to consider where data and information can br drawn from an Organisation

Internal Information Internal information is information that is generated through the normal business activities of an organisation. This information tends to be generated by a specific functional area within the organisation but can often be used by more than one other business function.

Some functional areas of an organisation
Finance Personnel Marketing Purchasing Sales and customer services Manufacturing Distribution Administration Research and development

External Information Most organisations also interact with external agencies (those outside the company), receiving and providing information as required. Some of the external agencies are: Government Trade groupings Commercially provided Databases Research

Task Try to think of as many examples of where St Clements College would use the different functional areas. For example: Marketing – press, open evenings etc
