3 Leviticus 6:8-13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 9 “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it. 10 And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen trousers he shall put on his body, and take up the ashes of the burnt offering which the fire has consumed on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar. 11 Then he shall take off his garments, put on other garments, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place. 12 And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. 13 A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.

4 Matthew 26:  And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." 27  Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28  For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29  But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."

6 Leviticus. 6:8-13

7 Leviticus 6:8-13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 9 “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.

8 Hebrews 4:11 11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. Romans 15:4 4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. 1 Corinthians 10:11 11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Colossians 2:14, 16-17 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Christians need to study the Old Testament. Not to keep its commands. (Col. 2:14-17) But to: - Help us understand much of N.T. - Learn from its examples, types and shadows (1 Cor. 10:11; Rom. 15:4; Heb. 4:11).

9 Philippians 4:18 1 Peter 2:9 1 Peter 2:5
18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:14-16 14 For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. 15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. 16 But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. 1 Peter 2:9  But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light 1 Peter 2:5 5you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Christians’ worship and service to God foreshadowed by O.T. priests’ altar service. We are priests. (I Pet. 2:5,9). We offer spiritual sacrifices of worship and service. (Heb. 13:14-16; Phil. 4:18). Christians need to keep the fire burning in their hearts to worship and serve the Lord.

10 These instructions to the Old Testament priesthood can serve as type for us today.

11 Do Not Put the Fire Out. (Chapter 6:12).
Matthew 13:22 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. Leviticus 6:12  And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. Do Not Put the Fire Out. (Chapter 6:12). With the cares of this world.... (Matt. 13:22). Too involved with business affairs. Too involved with family affairs. Too involved with community affairs. Too involved with social affairs.

12 Do Not Put the Fire Out. (Chapter 6:12).
1 John 2:15-17 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 Timothy 5:22 22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure. Do Not Put the Fire Out. (Chapter 6:12). With the sins of this world. (1 John 2:15-17; 1 Tim 5:22) Sinful attitudes. Defeatist attitude. Hypercritical attitude. Antagonistic attitude. Sinful Actions

13 Do Not Let the Fire Go Out.
(Chapter 6:13) By not keeping it refueled. By renewing our minds. (2 Cor. 4:16; Rom. 12:2) By studying and meditating on God’s word. (I Pet. 2:2; 2 Tim. 2:15; cf. Psa. 1:1) By benefitting from mutual exhortation. (Heb. 10:24,25; 3:12,13). 2 Timothy 2:15 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Hebrews 3:12-13 12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 10:24-25 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Romans 12:2 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Leviticus 6:13  A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out. 2 Corinthians 4:16 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 1 Peter 2:2 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,

14 Do Not Let the Fire Go Out.
James 1:25 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. 2 Peter 1:12-15 12 For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. 13 Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 14 knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. 15 Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease. Hebrews 5:14 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Do Not Let the Fire Go Out. (Chapter 6:13) By not keeping it stirred up. By stirring up memory. (2 Pet. 1:12-15). By stirring to action. (cf. James 1:25; Heb. 5:14)

15 Leviticus 10:1 10 Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. John 4:24 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” Colossians 3:17 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Matthew 15:9 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” Do Not Swap it Out. ( 10:1) The Lord’s fire for unauthorized fire. Unauthorized worship. (John 4:24; Matt. 15:9) Unauthorized work. (Col. 3:17)

16 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 23 Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? 15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. Do Not Swap it Out. ( 10:1) The Lord’s fire of decent, orderly, thoughtful worship for other fires more appealing to us. (cf. 1 Cor. 14:15,16,23,32-33) The fire of Pentecostalism. The fire of emotionalism. The fire of sensationalism. The fire of impulsiveness
