1 ADVANCED INFANTRY TRAINING BATTALION SCHOOL OF INFANTRY – EAST
INFANTRY SMALL UNIT LEADER COURSE PREP-GUIDE 1. The purpose of this course is to strengthen the leadership, planning, and decision-making capabilities of the infantry corporal and sergeant. Level T&R events 0300-COND FSPT 0300-COMM-1001 – PAT PAT WPNS-2003 0300 CMBH COMM COND DEF DEMO M ,1007,1010, M MED MOUT OFF OPT PAT WPNS , 1007 Students attending this course should be re-evaluated on these events within 30 days of the course convene date. Prospective students should put additional emphasis on the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct small unit training, the knowledge and skills necessary to integrate organic and non-organic fire support assets, the knowledge and skills necessary to lead a small unit throughout the Range of Military Operations (ROMO). Students will execute multiple field evolutions, live fire ranges, tactical decision games, decision forcing cases, and sand table exercises during which proficiency in these skills will be paramount. Additionally, all subsequent tasks taught throughout the course build on these fundamental skills and assume an advanced level of proficiency in them. Level T&R events ISUL TRNG The above listed T&R events are evaluated during the course and are graduation requirements. Students should familiarize themselves with these events within 30 days of attending ISULC, with a focus on designing training, implementing training, and evaluating training, using commander's intent as the framework to guide decision-making. Familiarization should focus on not only the individual actions for each event, but their function within a squad.

INFANTRY SMALL UNIT LEADER COURSE PREP-GUIDE 3. In addition to the T&R events listed, students should make themselves familiar with the expectations for conduct while TAD to a formal learning center. They should remember, always, they are a direct representation of their units and should act accordingly The course is both physically and mentally demanding. Students will make significant tactical movements under load and be expected to make decisions under physical and mental strain. 5. Professional reading will be conducted while attending this course, the following are recommended readings that will be introduced during this course “Left of bang” by Patrick Van Home “Thinking, Fast and Slow” by Daniel Kahneman “Mind Hacking” by Sir John Hargrave 6. This prep-guide intentionally mirrors the required Command Screening Checklist(CSC), but does not replace it.
