1 Child/Youth Protection Requirements and Guidelines

3 Child, Youth, Adult Child: Anyone 6th grade and below
Youth: Anyone not a child and under 18 Summarize presentation content by restating the important points from the lessons. What do you want the audience to remember when they leave your presentation? Adult: Anyone over the age of 18

4 Two Person Rule Having at least two adults in any classroom or setting. Exception: Pre-K to 8th grade – 1 adult plus another adult or youth is acceptable. 5 General Rules Two Person Rule
If a door has a window, the window should be uncovered. If a door has no window, the door should be open.

6 Supervision of Classroom Activities
Two Person Rule If Two Person Rule is not possible, view of classroom must not be obstructed An adult will be doing periodic check Encouraged to wear name tags

7 Open Door Policy Pick Up Procedure
Parents, volunteers and staff will be permitted to visit rooms at any time. Birth to 1st Grade Parent or authorized adult

8 Responding to Allegations of Child Abuse
Proper authorities need to be notified (eg. Local law enforcement) NY State Abuse Hotline – If abuse is observed Get another adult to diffuse matter and report incident immediately to Church School Superintendent and pastor.

9 Responding to Allegations of Child Abuse
Parents will be notified immediately If parent is the alleged abuser, follow advice of the authorities. After reporting abuse to authorities and pastor or designated leader, report to: Moderator Assistant Moderator Chair of Board of Deacon Member of Church and Ministry Committee GVA Response Team

10 Responding to Allegations of Child Abuse
A written report will be prepared by witness/witnesses and authorities involved. Contact with media will be by senior pastor or the person appointed by senior pastor

11 Incident/Accident Reporting
In the event of an incident or accident, an incident/accident form will be filled out and submitted to the Church School Superintendent.
