RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
Key Informant Interview. Ministries of Agriculture, Planning and Development, and Livestock, SONYO, Shadoon, NERAD, GAVO
The main aim of the research is to understand the effects of drought on the urban local economy in Hargeisa and make recommendations

3. RESEARCH FINDINGS:
The drought effects both urban and rural communities
Traders and sellers of livestock/products cannot find enough to sell in the markets
Government revenues from livestock reduce drastically in drought seasons
Many households lose their income; children drop out of school as fees are not affordable
The economy of the whole country reduces significantly
Many poor and middle income families join IDP camps because of the drought
