6. Nutritional Screening
Why?
TJC and CMS requirement for nutritional screening within 24 hours of admission
~50% of hospitalized patients are malnourished upon admission
We Utilize - NRS a Validated Malnutrition Screening Tool
Completed within 24 hours and repeated q 7 days
Purpose – Identify patients at risk for malnutrition

I understand the purpose of the diet manual including location on GSNet, items and information available and the importance of the Diet Manual. I understand that the diets identified are the diets that will be ordered for patients during their stay at GSMC. I understand the purpose of the NRS 2002 and requirements for completion.
