1 Changes in non–transferrin-bound iron (NTBI), oxygen radical activity, and flow-mediated dilation (FMD) at baseline and 10 and 240 min after ferric saccharate. Changes in non–transferrin-bound iron (NTBI), oxygen radical activity, and flow-mediated dilation (FMD) at baseline and 10 and 240 min after ferric saccharate. (Left) Steady increase in percentage in NTBI 10 and 240 min after infusion of ferric saccharate compared with baseline. (Middle) Percentage change in oxygen radical generation compared with baseline. At 10 and 240 min after infusion of ferric saccharate, oxygen radical formation has increased significantly. (Right) Percentage decrease in FMD 10 and 240 min after infusion of ferric saccharate compared with baseline. At 10 min, FMD has decreased significantly. *P < 0.05 versus baseline.
