Fig 1 Cluster analysis of patients determined by relationship to dimension 1 (Dim1) and dimension 2 (Dim2). Patient factor map plotting individual patients as they relate to dimension 1 (x-axis) and dimension 2 (y-axis). Each marker represents a single patient, and their position indicates scores for dimensions 1 and 2. Similarities between patients is represented by their proximity to each other within the plot. Unsupervised cluster analysis identified 3 clusters of patients: cluster 1 (green icons), cluster 2 (blue icons), and cluster 3 (red icons). Cluster 1 was composed of 7 control subjects, 11 patients with CRSsNP, and 1 patient with CRSwNP. Cluster 2 contained 5 patients with CRSsNP and 10 patients with CRSwNP. Cluster 3 contained 10 patients with CRSwNP. Eight of 10 cluster 3 patients were TLO positive. Only 1 of 15 cluster 2 patients were TLO positive, whereas no patients in cluster 1 had TLOs. Fig 2 Relative gene expression of differentially expressed genes of interest in patients with CRSwNP grouped by TLO status. The graphs demonstrate relative expression of genes of interest grouped by TLO status. The y-axes are plotted in log2 scale, such that upward bars represent upregulation and downward bars represent downregulation. Error bars represent 95% CIs. Genes are divided into 4 categories according to function: A, interleukin genes; B, TLO initiation genes; C, TLR genes; and D, LPS detection genes. *P ≤ .05, **P < .01, and ***P < .001.
