The Circle of Life

The sun gives energy to every living thing.

Photosynthesis

Herbivores eat plants.

Carnivores eat meat.

When these animals die their bodies will decompose and give nutrients to the soil and the plants that live in that soil.

Fungus, bacteria, maggots, and flies are types of decomposers.

And then there are humans

The Industrial Revolution
A boom in the development of transportation, agriculture, and technology during the 18th and 19th century.

“With great power comes great responsibility.” -Spiderman

In 2000 the United States was ranked the number one producer of carbon dioxide from fossil fuels in the world. Fossil Fuels are coal, oil, and gas

The Automobile

SUV's put out 43% more global-warming pollutants and 47% more air pollution than the average car.

Progress It would take 20 of today's new cars to generate the same amount of air pollution as one mid-1960s model car.

And then there is waste

Each day the United States throws away enough trash to fill 63,000 garbage trucks.

Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour.

Only about one-tenth of all solid garbage in the United States gets recycled.

Clean Water?

40% of America's rivers are too polluted for fishing, swimming, or aquatic life.

If pollution exists…

how can this exist?
