The prefix in the name becomes the subscript in the formula sulfur dibromide SBr2 b. carbon tetrafluoride CF4 c. phosphorus pentoxide PO5 d. dinitrogen trioxide N2O3

Naming Molecular Compounds
check to make sure that both elements are non-metals write the names of both elements in the same order as the formula replace the ending of the second element with “ide” add prefixes – mono is never used for the first element Prefix # mon(o) 1 di 2 tri 3 tetra 4 penta 5
