1 The Cold War Project The Vietnam War

2 How did it start The Vietnam War started when the leader of North Vietnam Ho Chi Minh wanted to make the whole country a communist country. The U.S. was trying to fight the spread of communism around the world. The Americans had the theory that if Vietnam would turn into a communist country, then all the countries next to it would too.

3 It was a war, because two countries were fighting against each other over a period of time. But the U.S. never declared war on Vietnam, so if we consider this, it would only be called a conflict.

4 What countries were involved
America and South Vietnam as allies. – anti communist North Vietnam and its southern allies, together called the Viet Cong. - communist

5 The oUTCOME The Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese won the war and the country turned into a communist country. There were around 50,000 Americans dead, around 400,000 South Vietnamese, and around 900,000 Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces.

6 Historical personalities.
Ho Chi Minh- the leader of North Vietnam. Wanted to make Vietnam a communist country. Ngo Dinh Diem- president of South Vietnam. He tried to create the Republic of Vietnam with the help of the United States. Lyndon Johnson- president of the U.S. He said that the U.S. had to send troops to Vietnam, because they had promised South Vietnam to protect them.
