North and South Sudanese people have fought in a bloody civil war since gaining their independence in 1956 Northern Muslims have killed thousands of Southern non-Muslims over the past 10 years

Millions of Sudanese have fled the country looking for a better life Peace agreement signed in Sudan March 2010 January 2011 – The people of southern Sudan vote to split Sudan into two countries
