How do search engines work?
Search engines use something that’s called a web crawler. All a web crawler does is looks for web pages that have your key words and how many times they have them, they then rank them from the usage of your key words. Usually the top one is the best for your results.

Keywords & Boolean Logic
Keywords are important to use when you are searching on the web. It is important that you use the right key words like if you are searching for the capital of Australia you would only have to put the words capital Australia. In a similar way you could search for Roman emperor for a project but you had done a whole lesson on Caesar then you would put Roman emperor- Caesar then you would get Roman emperor but not Caesar. Boolean Logic involves words including AND, OR and NOT. When you are using Boolean logic the word OR expands your search and the word AND narrows the search.

Hoax, Spoof and Bias. Beware of Hoax and Bias sites because they might give you wrong information so you should always check another site to see if your information is correct. Wikipedia is not always correct because anyone can add to it and may be bias. There also might be spoofs which are websites that are made up for fun, hoax's which are quite similar but they are fake. For example look at this spoof website : Dog Island
