Agenda Review of Trimble Positions What’s new in Trimble Positions
Data collection software Pros and Cons Summary and Questions
4
What is it? Trimble Positions software suite provides you with a streamlined choice for integrating high‑performance field data collection into the Esri ArcGIS environment, so you can work smart and with the confidence you need.
5
Trusted Data Quality Quality GIS data means an organization can make sound decisions Trimble Positions means… Data seamlessly verified for rapid field-to-office data flow High quality data is simple for field crews to capture Using the most technologically advanced equipment on the market Collecting intelligent GNSS data, with honest accuracy ratings you can trust Having quality data in the GIS is important for many reasons, and additions or changes to that data from the field are subject to additional scrutiny. Often times, essential GIS data comes from the field, and confidence in that data is critical to the long-term success of that data – and ultimately the decisions built from its analysis Using Trimble Positions means an organization can have complete confidence in the quality of their field data. With data collected from the most advanced equipment on the market, to software which guides users of varying skills and experience through field data collection, to seamless verification of data based on intelligent, honest accuracy ratings, Trimble Positions means having complete confidence in field data quality.
6
Accuracy. Productivity.
GIS data quality depends on field crews delivering accurate field data—without being slowed by complicated software or inability to collect positions Simple workflows and feedback that guide field workers through even complex data collection tasks to minimize error and maximize productivity Positioning which is more accessible and accurate than ever before Quality data from the field can often come at the cost of lost productivity. When using Trimble Positions, field data collection is based on workflows that make even the most complex GNSS data collection tasks easy for the field user. Coupled with technology like Floodlight, the Accuracy-Based Logging feature of the mobile extension means a field user can be confident they are collecting data of the highest quality without sacrificing productivity. Configuration of advanced receiver options such as real-time sources are as simple as a single button press. With Trimble Positions, quality data means accuracy AND productivity.

New Features Project Wizard Automated Session Processor
Support for Mean-Sea-Level/Orthometric/Geoid heights Direct Ingest from Trimble TerraSync™ software Integrated Trimble TerraFlex™ software plug-in Support for ArcGIS Online hosted feature services for real time workflows Support for ArcMap 10.3
10
Project Wizard A single, wizard-based project creation workflow for all project types Steps hidden if not needed for a project type Integrates compatibility testing, GNSS-enabling, and datum management Simplifies other administration screens
11
Session Processor A stand-alone tool to automate the processing of collected GNSS session data Performs one, several, or all of the manual steps from Positions Desktop—check-in (or check for new sessions), post-process, update feature geometry, and remove session Can be configured to process one or more projects (shares the same Positions database) Runs on an interval schedule after initial configuration Supports multiple project types—ArcGIS Mobile, ArcPad, Trimble TerraSync and TerraFlex
12
Automated Postprocessing Workflows
13
Using Geoid Heights Gives user the option to use the geoid to measure heights from Also commonly referred to as mean sea level heights Augments existing option for ellipsoid heights
14
Direct Ingest From TerraSync
Capabilities Include: Creation of a TerraSync project in Positions Desktop add-in Save project’s dictionary as DDF and update dictionary from an edited DDF Checkout selected features as an SSF file Automated processing of collected data in an SSF file (Session Processor)
15
ArcGIS Online ArcGIS Online subscriptions can use ArcGIS for Windows Mobile + Trimble Positions with hosted feature services The main restriction is that only real-time corrections can be used Must publish hosted feature services (and optionally, data) from ArcMap to ArcGIS Online
16
TerraFlex Plug-in TerraFlex projects are also now supported with Trimble Positions Desktop add-in No need for the separate Plug-in (though still provided for non-Positions users) Create TerraFlex projects based on your selected feature classes Pull data from TerraFlex back into those feature classes
17
Trimble R1 Data collected with the R1 using either Trimble Positions for ArcMobile, ArcPad, and TerraSync can be post processed Sub meter Horizontal
