Mole to Mole Calculations
You will need a calculator, your periodic table, a buddy and your “cheat sheet”
2
Objective Students will apply the mole concept in writing by converting moles of 1 substance to moles of a 2nd substance by using content language (moles and coefficiants) supports include class notes, periodic table, calculator, naming rules and shoulder partners.

___ Mg + ___ O2 ___ MgO “I DO”… Step 1: Balance the equation
Step 2: Write out the mole ratios 2 moles Mg, 1 mole O2, 2 moles MgO Step 3: Write out the chemical formula in words It takes two moles of magnesium AND one mole of oxygen to produce two moles of magnesium oxide (need to remember naming)
4
___ Sb + ___ Cl2 ___ SbCl3 “WE DO”… Step 1: Balance the equation
Step 2: Write out the mole ratios ___ moles Sb, ___ moles Cl2, ___ moles SbCl3 Step 3: Write out the chemical formula in words It takes ____ moles of __________ AND ___ moles of ___________ to produce ___ moles of Antimony trichloride (need to remember naming)

___ Mg + ___ O2 ___ MgO “I DO”….
If you have 3.56 moles of magnesium, how many moles of oxygen will be produced? Step 1: Balance the equation ___ Mg + ___ O2 ___ MgO Step 2: Write out what you know from the problem Step 3: The moles you know goes on the bottom, the moles you are looking for goes on the top. 3.56 moles of Mg

___ Sb + ___ Cl2 ___ SbCl3 “WE DO”…. Step 1: Balance the equation
If you have 19.0 moles of chlorine, how many moles of antimony trichloride will be produced? Step 1: Balance the equation ___ Sb + ___ Cl2 ___ SbCl3 Step 2: Write out what you know from the problem Step 3: The moles you know goes on the bottom, the moles you are looking for goes on the top. 19.0 moles of ___
