What is the lymphatic System (LS)? What is the primary function of the LS? What is lymph and why is it important? What part of the lymph makes it “infection-fighting”? List the parts of the lymphatic system. What are lymphatic vessels similar to? Where is lymph filtered? How many lymph nodes are in the body? Where are lymph nodes located? What is the largest lymphatic organ? Where is it located? What is it’s job?

3 Lymphatic System Using the website above, answer the questions in the previous slide and draw a similar diagram of the lymphatic system as in the article. *Note: You do not have to draw every lymph vessel and lymph node; however, be sure to label the following: tonsils (and adenoids- photo in next slide), thymus, and spleen. Draw the detailed picture of the lymph node as well.

Which can be seen by just looking at the throat? What are the most common problems affecting the tonsils and adenoids? What can happen if they become swollen? Is it possible to develop cancer of the tonsils? What are the symptoms of tonsillitis? What are the symptoms of enlarged tonsils and adenoids? How are disorders of the tonsils and adenoids treated? -itis: inflammation
