3. Strategic planning for Information Resources
The unit called Information Services is managed by a manger who may have Vice-Presidential status
To establish information services are a major business area and include its top manager in the senior group of executives, such as the executive committee, who make key decisions for the firm

4. The CIO & CTO
These are terminology has been created for the information services manager
First the term CIO for “Chief Information Officer”
Now CTO “Chief Technology Officer” has emerged
These are highest-level manager of information services
This person contributes managerial skills to solving problems relating not only to the information resources.
CIO or CTO can take advice
Spend time with the business and in business training. Learn the business, not just the technology
Actively seek partnerships with business units and line management- don’t wait to be invited
Focus on improving business processes
Explain IS costs in business terms
Build credibility by delivering reliable IS services
Be open to ideas from outside the IS area

5. Strategic Planning for the Enterprise
Executives of committee is responsible for the strategic planning for entire firm
This committee includes president and VP as well of the firm’s business area
This committee determines the organization’s strategic business plan.
After execution of plan this committee monitor the performance of this plan
The plan can be modified
The make sure that objectives are met
