Millions of animals die each year from water pollution
Millions of animals die each year from water pollution. Here’s a cat photo to calm your nerves.

Polluted Waters Many polluted waters are killing animals. Causes of this are: Oil is leaking from tankers Food scraps mixed with trash juices is making a bad, gunky liquid that releases methane. This can be easily preventable if we throw trash in the trash can and compost in the compost bin so we can grow more plants and live happy.

Composting, the answers to our problems
Banana peels, apple cores, and other organic matter can all be COMPOSTED. Compost is then turned into soil in one, big cycle. Composting is a simple way to add nutrient-rich humus which fuels plant growth and restores vitality to depleted soil. When you compost, the oxygen in the air around it breaks down the all the food stuff.
5
The Leachate Stink All the liquids in the decomposing trash filtered down to the bottom of the hole and, from there, into the soil and groundwater. This gloop, known as "leachate", could have contained any number of hazardous chemicals, especially in an era when few people thought about trash.

How composting gets back at the gunk
This bad gunk can only be described as one thing: Trash. But more can come from this. If we compost and put stuff such as banana peels and orange rinds, we can create soil, which then reproduces hearty veggies.
7
The Compost cycle 1 First, you plant seeds. 4 Finally, more seeds grow
2 Second, food sprouts. 3 Next, your “wrapper” gets thrown away, and slowly makes new soil

Composting at your school
Composting is easy. Just follow these steps and you can’t lose. When you finish your snack, look at the wrapper. If it’s plastic or paper, it’s recyclable. Look for a green bucket in your classroom if your snack “wrapper” is organic. If it is, compost it. (ex: the “wrapper of my banana is an organic banana peel- that goes in the compost bin.)
