Is an independent clause Does not have a FANBOYS* word, Ex. "I eat ice cream." Or, it has a FANBOYS* word, but when you put your thumb over it, the left and right sides don't make sense on their own. Ex. "I eat ice cream and drink water” *FANBOYS = FOR, AND, NOR, BUT, OR, YET, SO A Simple Sentence

3 "I eat ice cream, and she drinks water" and "I eat ice cream; she drinks water.“
Has two independent clauses that are connected together Must have a comma and a FANBOYS word or a semicolon separating the two independent clauses If it has a FANBOYS word or semicolon, put your thumb over it. Both the left and the right side must have a subject and a verb, and they must make sense on their own. Ex. "I eat ice cream” “she drinks water". A Compound Sentence
