Figure 1 Operational scheme for the work with three different semen analysis programs. This figure presents a cartoon with the representation of the major steps concerning the computer semen analysis. After the acquisition of the image and its digitalization, the operator chooses one of the three computer methods: the manual (manual), the semiautomatic (semiautomatic), and the fully automatic (full-automatic). In the manual method, the operator should trace the sperm head limits (M) with the help of the computer mouse. In the semiautomatic method, the operator interacting with the computer adjusts the window in the segmentation step (A) and creates a binary image (B) with the corrected sperm heads that have been identified.
