3 Agenda relative to Metrology
Internal LCLS Undulator Alignment and Motion Review SLAC, October 20 & 21, 2005 Committee Virgil Bocean (FNAL) Gordon Bowden (SLAC) Steve Marks (LBNL) Will Oren, Chair (JLAB) Agenda relative to Metrology Component fiducialization Two-tier alignment Monitoring systems Published report

4 Girder Alignment Sequence: Items to work on:
Fiducialization of all components Assembly on girder and pre-alignment: Combination MMF & other on-site locations Final alignment on girder: In MMF with CMM & local set-ups Items to work on: Handling Storage

5 UN36_00060 = CMM Procurement Leitz Reference Model CMM manufactured by Brown & Sharpe in Wetzlar (Germany) is on order. It should be shipped after in-situ special tuning currently scheduled for the week of March 6th. It is then expected to arrive at SLAC end of April. CMM weight capacity is 3000 kg. CMM measuring range is 0.9 x 1.5 x 4.5 meters. CMM resolution is 0.1 microns or inches. CMM spatial accuracy is a formula based on the length L (in mm): Original: 2.0 microns + L/350 Special calibration for undulator segment: 1.5 microns + L/500.

8 Tunnel Alignment Sequence: Items to work on:
Establish survey network in empty UH. Mark bolt-hole floor positions for pedestals. Align pedestals. Survey girder components. Final alignment & integration of monitoring systems. Items to work on: Finalize penetrations & other access. Analyze mechanical requirements for cam movers. Make a local controller for cam movers. Allow schedule for repeated surveys due to tunnel movements.
