2. BLUE
Major plot points (important things that happen in the story) as they appear in the text
AND
Summary of the most important plot points at the end of each chapter (bullet points)

3. RED Unknown vocabulary or references to things that you do NOT know
define/explain the underlined word or phrase in the margin of the page

4. GREEN Character name, physical descriptions, and feelings
Write the name of the character when it first appears at the top of the page, as well.

5. BLACK
Setting: references to and descriptions of time and place- when and where

6. YELLOW (highlighter) Text that conveys THEME, or relates to SYMBOLS
Highlighted passages must be labeled in the margin as to why you highlighted them

7. Active Reading Key (to be written INSIDE your novel)
BLUE = Major plot points AND Summary at the end of each chapter
