Fig. 1 Representation of the end-to-side interposition anastomotic technique. The anastomoses are acutely angled with a greater than 2:1 arteriotomy-to-graft diameter ratio. Ligation of the native artery at the heel of the anastomosis and division of the bypassed segment allows for even tension and a smooth, continuous artery-graft contour. Fig. 2 Kaplan-Meier cumulative patency curves for thin-walled 10 cm PTFE grafts according to implant site in dogs. These data are pooled from several experimental series but also include multiple grafts from the same subject. Nevertheless, the curves demonstrate the pattern of graft failure by implant site. Fig. 3 Aspirin effect on platelet aggregation in dogs. In vitro platelet aggregation was measured in response to ADP as a single agonist before and after a 7-day regimen of high-dose ASA (325 mg orally) and dipyridamole (50 mg orally). The mean percent maximum aggregation is significantly reduced by ASA treatment (p < 0.011), and the variance is also reduced.
