Week of February 25, 2019 LEARNING IS WINNING!! Math: Module 6 Topic B: Decimal Fractions Students will learn to decompose tenths into 10 equal parts to create hundredths . Students will use metric measurement to investigate decimal fractions greater than 1. Students will model decimal fractions using, visual models number lines, place value disk, and expanded form. Please refer to Math News Letter, Homework, and exit tickets to prepare for test. Mid Module Test (Topics A and B): Friday, March 1st. Review Multiplication facts nightly Science: Waves and Communication Focus: Light In class discoveries, Interactive Notebooks, online research, videos, experiments, and discussions. Science Test: Wednesday A Study Guide has been provided. S.S. (BOTH CLASSES) This week we are learning about the timeline of United States acquiring its 50 states. Students will have a “cold read” quiz on statehood for their final test grade of the 3rd 9 weeks this week. Reading: This week we will finish reading The Lightening Thief. Students should also be close to finishing up their independent novel “Where the Mountain Meets the Moon”. You will notice our test content has increased to two passages-this is to prepare them for the Leap test which will consist of multiple passages AND an essay. I am confident they will do great with all of our practice and preparations! We are building stamina! Spelling: We are still on unit 19 this week searching for and using words with the “le” ending. Writing: Our writing now consists of 2 or more paragraphs and students are doing great using the RACE strategy for each paragraph! Keep it up! ACHIEVE3000.com website: 10 or more activities will be due Monday March 11 with 75% or higher. *Mardi Gras break is Monday, March 4-Friday, March 8 This Thursday is the annual PES parade as well as our first “Board game Bonanza. Students must pay 30 Gator Golds to attend Board game Bonanza. From our librarian: Feb March 1 is  "Read Across America Week".  Join us by wearing crazy socks to your library class on Tuesday-we will have a "Fox in Socks" day of reading!
