2 Objective of the Project
Currently the quality descriptions of both Statistics Finland as well as other organisations belonging to Official Statistics of Finland follow the original EU quality repot standard Reports written to national users differ from ESS quality reports According to the decision by the ESS Committee made in the autumn of 2013 the quality and metadata reporting of the ESS statistics is to be unified to be structured as SIMS v2 Effects all ONAs producing ESS-statistics

3 Project The project was carried out with cooperation with Natural Resources Institute Finland and Finnish Customs. The project was financed partially by the Eurostat grant on quality reporting Tasks Unify the quality reports in all Official Statistics of Finland Structure, quality and languages Build a common quality reporting system for all institutes to use For editing, storing and disseminating of new quality reports

4 Cooperation with ONAs Part of Statistics Finland’s mission says: ”... Statistics Finland develops the national statistical service in cooperation with other Government officials.” Cooperation in development projects Active cooperation with Advisory Board of Official Statistics of Finland Presenting project in different stages Questionnaire to written consultation

Service-oriented Architecture Reusability One internet interface All quality reports in use for all Official Statistics of Finland

8 Conclusions SIMS v 2.0 is a sufficient scope for standardising the quality reporting More detailed information should be disseminated as a separate methodological description More work on harmonizing the guidelines for reporting is needed Unified quality reports will serve better our users
