Do not wait. Turn in any signed paperwork to the 7th period bin. If you are not eating, you must read something of your choice. HOMEROOM = SILENCE

I.A.N. - E.L.A. Terms With your tablemates, write each of the following terms below on an index card first-person P.O.V. incident reflection response third-person P.O.V. When you finish, tape the index cards to the wall under the correct category (Q = Questions you have about this term, H = You’ve heard of this term before, or T = You know this so well you could teach it to other students.) ***If you finish early, read quietly.*** Yesterday’s Terms: Use SpringBoard page 15 to help you define these terms. first-person P.O.V. Standard: ELASE6RL2 – Determine a theme or central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details; provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments. Learning Targets: Define the concept of change through the reading of a narrative. Apply understanding of narrative elements to reading and writing.

SpringBoard Unit 1- Activity 1.4 (page 16) As you read “My Superpowers” a second time, be sure to annotate the text. Use your annotations key on p. 49 in your I.A.N. When you finish reading, use complete sentences to answer questions 1-4 on pages If you do not finish these questions, tear them out and take them home. They are due no later than tomorrow.

SpringBoard Unit 1- Activity 1.4 (pages 17-18) Use the tips below to help you answer the questions: 1 – How was the main incident different than all of the other days he was bullied? Why was that day so much more different than any of the other times he was bullied? List details. 2 – You may find the answers in paragraph 12. 3 – They are asking for you to identify the paragraph in which his reflection begins and to summarize it. 4 – Think about our discussion from yesterday. Recall our purpose for reading and how we identified each of these items.

Wind Down & Independent Reading First, you must finish any missing S.B. pages. Today’s pages: 17-18, questions 1-4 If you do not finish these questions, tear them out and take them home. They are due no later than tomorrow. As you read, you should add to your “Notes for Independent Reading” chart within your Reading Portfolio. This ½ sheet is due Friday, September 1, 2017.
